Marrakech to Zagora Desert
First off, yes! Morocco has more than one desert! The Zagora desert is rocky and sandy, but it does not have the fine orange sand people associate with the Sahara.
This trip is a great choice for those who want a taste of desert life but do not have the time to travel to the Sahara.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Zagora
On the morning of the first day we will meet you where ever you are in Marrakech. we will drive over the High Atlas Mountaina, through the Tizi n’Tichka pass, to the province of Ouarzazate. We will stop at the Ait Ben Haddou. The 17th century ksar (fortified village) is a UNESCO World Heritage site in honor of its place in history. After exploring the traditional Berber architecture, we will drive to the Zagora Desert where you can enjoy a fresh cup of Moroccan Mint Tea - or Berber Whisky - before riding a camel to your campsite in the desert. After watching a gorgeous sunset, you will find your tent and spend the night.
Day 2: Zagora → Ouarzazate → Marrakech
We will wake up early in the morning to witness a beautiful sunrise and enjoy a traditional desert breakfast before trekking out of the desert. From there we will drive to Ouarzazate, sometimes called the “Hollywood of Morocco,” to visit the Museum of Cinema and Taourirt Casbah. We will drive into the High Atlas Mountains for lunch on our way back to Marrakech. We should be there by late afternoon.
